My dear friend Tony, who owns the world famous restaurant Taverna Tony's, was telling us wonderful stories of his youth in London and the tales surrounding his first restaurant he opened near Hyde Park in the 60's.
His cocky ( as he put it ) attitude, brought the cream of the crop to his restaurant from Elizabeth Taylor to rock star Jimi Hendrix,
yet his fondest memories were of a poster ( above ) on the wall that drove in customers from miles around. Tony said it brought out the confidence in people and inspired greatness.
Words to live by.

100th post and a hundred new things...
Soooooo much amazing vintage arrived today...
This fabulous outfit is a 90's Versace skirt, 1960's Harrod's of London paisley cotton blouse, with an Azzedine Alaia ( original - from the 90's ) leather belt embellished with grey leather flowers.
The close-up in the second picture shows the beautiful paisley pattern, accented with a vintage celtic cross pendant and a tahitian pearl necklace.
Last but not least, we have the most amazing collection of Louis Vuitton, most pieces are vintage
and some are even discontinued making them truly collector's pieces.
Coming soon is the unveiling of a carefully edited
Thierry Mugler, which we are pondering the idea of some gallery inspired shows around each collection.
Updates soon!

Rodarte Fall 2010
Our customer Shannon came in today. She was a stylist in New York for 12 years and is now a costume designer for movies, she also works with Chrome Hearts. While browsing through our boutique,
she came across a collection of layered, pastel pieces and told us that this certain display reminded her of the Fall 2010 Rodarte collection.
I thought "Wow, how cool - we are really on it" - without knowing what was going on in New York ( we are in our own little bubble here in Malibu ).
So grateful was I that I though I should post a few pics from Rodarte's fab show...pics from our store soon to follow.

Malibu's Ms. Huffington
Don't kid yourself...Malibu is a tough town.
It's even tougher to get some people's attention...thankfully Rock and Revolution prevailed even at our most vulnerable time.
All thanks to Kim Devore at the Malibu Times, who sincerely loves our store, even in it's infancy, with the ability to have the vision of what we will become.
Kim's stamp of approval is likened to a mention from Ariana Huffington in her column for the Washington Post.
I kid you not.
Once again, many thanks to Kim and her much appreciated support.

Below are recipients of the award I am handing out on this Super Bowl Sunday.

There are a few who are my faves that are not listed here, but that was only because Cindy got to you before I did!

Got me some PRESS and I didn't even know it!!!
My wonderful customer Kim, the entertainment editor at the Malibu Times was gracious enough to mention our humble little boutique in a recent issue of the paper.
I can't believe I missed it!!!
Thankfully, Kim called me at home today to tell me
how much everyone loved her dress ( including Paris Hilton and Roma Downey ).
Kim and her fab frock were the talk of the event!
That's when she mentioned the write-up.
Apparently all the re-merchandising, and cosmetic changes we are working on right now have really kept my focus...a little too much!
Go Kim and thanks so much for the support!!!! Now Kim gets to go on a much needed vacation to Carnivale in Venice, Italy ( which is why she came to the store in the first place...she needed a few party dresses ).
The paper version will be posted soon... ( after I race to the Times to get a copy before they are gone ! )

My dear friend Paul... 1945-2010
Dear Friends,
On February 2, 2010, a very dear friend of mine, Paul Tennant and was found dead in his flat outside of London. I met Paul in December, 2009 in Los Angeles at a BAFTA Christmas Party, and we became very close friends. In early January, 2010, he returned to England as, unfortunately, he was finalizing a divorce. He moved out of his home and into a flat, but was unable to handle the loneliness of this move and new life. Despite having written a wonderful book called All You Need is Luck about his experiences from 1967-1968, as the first band signed by Apple Records, and called Focal Point, and its imminent release in America, to one day hopefully be made into a movie, the pain of the changes in his personal life proved too much.
Paul had planned to come back to LA in mid February, 2010. He was originally from Liverpool and had the most darling accent. I shall miss him terribly. I know that this personal tragedy for me will make me appreciate the fragility of our lives and try harder each day to be kinder to those I meet and love.
Laurie Butler February 3, 2010
As a young lad in Liverpool, his band Focal Point was discovered by Paul Mc Cartney...
I was privileged enough to spend some wonderful moments recently with Paul, my wonderful friend Laurie and my family over New Year's...little did I know it would be his last.
Dear Paul, you will be missed. The generations who did not know you and your amazing stories will miss out on so much. We will be sure to pass on your words and music to those who will appreciate what you brought to this world. Rest In Peace, my friend. xoxo
My daughter and Paul at our house on New Year's Day 2010. Tatum was so intrigued with all of the stories Paul was telling her of the Beatles era and his involvement in the music industry.
